96 is a 2018 Indian Tamil-language romantic drama film written and directed by C. Prem Kumar, starring Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha Krishnan. The film, the directorial debut of Prem Kumar, was produced by S. Nanthagopal for Madras Enterprises and features a score and soundtrack composed by Govind Vasantha. Mahendiran Jayaraju and N. Shanmuga Sundaram handled the cinematography and R. Govindaraj edited the film, while the costumes were designed by Subhashree Kaarthik Vijay.

The film was released on 4 October 2018 to critical acclaim, with praise for its screenplay, direction, music and the performances of the two leading actors. Now It will be remade in Kannada and Telugu by same Director.
Samantha and Sharwanand in 96 Telugu remake
Director Premkumar is said to have effected a major change in ’96’ Telugu remake by completely removing the school portions that had Aditya Bhaskar and Gauri Kishan playing younger versions of the lead pair. It is reported that instead the couple will be shown studying in college and Samantha and Sharwanand will themselves play the younger versions too. It is said that Sam is delighted by the change as she gets to play two different shades which would be challenging as well.
