I beseech you. Don’t kill Solo: Dulquer Salmaan composes a passionate post

Dulquer Salmaan’s most recent bilingual film Solo has opened to spellbound perspectives from commentators and gatherings of people alike. In spite of solid opening in Kerala, the film has attempted to have an effect in the cinema world in different states. In Tamil Nadu, on account of the Producers Council’s choice to not discharge any new movies in challenge the recently forced extra duty well beyond GST, the film discharged on Thursday (October 5) and was removed from theaters the following day.

In the in the interim, the Malayalam movie’s consummation was changed without the assent of chief Bejoy Nambiar and discharged once more.

Bejoy took to his Twitter page to affirm this and expressed, “For each one of those getting some information about the changed consummation. It has been managed without my insight and consent.Good or Bad I remain by the film I made.” Bejoy additionally included that the film, if at all discharges in Tamil Nadu, will discharge as seems to be. “SOLO – Tamil adaptation if allowed to discharge once the strike is over will discharge AS IS ! @aniljain13 is a rockstar of a maker,” he composed

It was after this that Dulquer took to his Facebook page to compose a long note regarding why fans ought not murder Solo.

“I’ve been meaning to write a note about Solo after watching the film myself and because of my schedule I could only get the time today. I saw it. And it’s turned out much better than I could ever imagine it. I loved every second of it. Sure there are a few issues here and there, in terms of language, because it is a bilingual and maybe the Shekhar track needed longer screen time. But, I absolutely loved the film. The original version. The version my director, Bejoy Nambiar envisioned. Films like Solo are any actor’s dream. I loved it the moment I heard it. I loved every second of shooting it. And now I love the final product on screen. I put my heart and soul into the film. On a limited budget to make such a big film, we put our blood and sweat into it. And I’ll do it again for films like this. For films I believe in. For films I find ‘different’,” he wrote on his Facebook page.

He went on to add, “People tell me Solo isn’t like Charlie and Bangalore Days. They asked me why I did it. They say I could have avoided it. They say this kind of experimenting is unnecessary. But you know what, that’s why I love it. I want to constantly do “different” films. So why do a certain section of our lovely audience fear, dislike and mock different? 7 billion humans walk the earth. There is bound to be that many stories. That many issues. That many conflicts or differences. If you are not familiar with it, doesn’t make it go away. If you are not aware of it, doesn’t make it wrong. Cause if you do, you just run the risk of being ignorant. Or judgmental. Or both. We are only human. So why judge?”

“I seek stories wherever I go. Whether it’s news articles. Whether it’s people I meet. Whether it’s movies I watch or books I read. And I’ve always believed my viewers give me the courage to tell any story. If it’s original and if we tell it well, you will all enjoy it. Good, bad or ugly. Black, white or grey. It’s always been my deciding factor in choosing scripts. So when several people mock and hoot and write badly about my favourite track, The Rudra story in Solo, it breaks my heart. It excited all of us actors. Be it Nasser sir, Hasini ma’am, Neha or Me, we were kicked that it was so unique and bold. It’s based on true incidents and there have been several news stories like it. We wanted to make a film about it. We thought the best way to tell it was through humour. So when people say it became unintentionally funny I don’t get it. The sequence where the amazing Suhasini ma’am in a stellar performance of apprehension/embarrassment/awkwardness breaks the news to my character Rudra has been for me one of the greatest scenes in my cinematic career. It was a single shot and I had to interpret it how I deemed best. For an actor like me that was new and unprecedented. With no reference point. I enjoyed that more than any scene in my life because it’s different from anything else. And it was funny when Bejoy told us about it. It was funny when he called cut. It was funny during dub and it was funny when I saw it on screen. Of course the characters won’t make it a comedy. They will be sad and broken and awkward on screen, especially Rudra. Sadly because it was awkward people didn’t understand if they were laughing with us (the makers) or laughing at us (the makers). Dark comedies are meant to be awkward. Always have been. That was our intention. So mocking it, booing in theatres, spreading negativity and hate and degrading the film because you didn’t get it, just kills the film. It breaks our hearts, breaks our spirit, and kills the courage you gave me all along. So I beg you. Don’t kill Solo. Give it a go with an open mind and you will have a blast with the film.”

screens very good, contribute to the total… Metro multiplexes ordinary… Multiplexes of Tier-2 + Tier-3 cities good… Should witness growth on Day 2 and 3… Friday 7.03 cr [2922 screens]. Marjaavan is looking like a commercial masala entertainer. Milap Zaveri is coming with this film after Satyameva Jayate, which was again a mass entertainer. It is after a long time a film is coming which will cater to the B and C towns and the audience of hardcore action drama.

Riteish Deshmukh is the key element of this film. He has Sidharth and Riteish are coming together after Ek Villain. People have liked their combination and they have been appreciated in the past. Milap has also helmed box office hits in the past. Now, it all depends on how the audience find the content of the filmed a dwarf villain, and he is looking fabulous. The songs have also been appreciated. Sidharth Malhotra tries to

play the angry lover who can take on an army alone, but sadly this trope has been perfected by so many actors that Malhotra’s performance seems like a sad parody. Tara Sutaria, as Malhotra’s lady love and as someone who has suffered from the situation in Kashmir, is too perfect with her flawless nude makeup and blow-dried hair to be believable. Also, what is the super-talented Suhasini Mule doing in the film?”. Marjaavaan could perhaps be used as a new drinking game, where you raise your glass whenever a melodramatic or a rhyming one-liner is delivered. You will get drunk in the first half-hour itself. Guaranteed.

action movie review

As the title suggests, Action is full of guns, explosion, parkour-style chases on roofs, bike chases, cars blowing up and some close combat stunt scenes as the ‘hero’ is on a ‘mission impossible’. The film is packaged as a template Tamil masala entertainer laced with romance, songs, sentiments, and patriotism. Action has been shot in some exotic foreign locales in Turkey and Azerbaijan, but lacks a proper script and takes audiences for granted with far too many logical loopholes in the plot. The film opens with an action sequence set in Istanbul, with ludicrous stunt and even more ludicrous hero glorifying lines – “Avan vandha option illa action dhaan”; “Unmaya thedi aaraayiram kilometre vandhavan unna thedi ara kilometre vara maataana?”. Your reaction to Action is decided in this very sequence. If you dig the corniness of the lines and the OTT-ness of the stunts, then you might be able to enjoy the film. If not, tough luck!

The plot revolves around Colonel Subhash (Vishal), the son of a chief minister (Pala Karuppaiah), who has to track down the people behind the dastardly terror attack that has led to the death of his fiancée (Aishwarya Lekshmi, in her Tamil debut) and his elder brother (Ramki). Lending him a helping hand is Diya (Tamannaah), his army colleague, who also fancies him. While this one-line plot, which makes Subhash’s mission both patriotic and personal, offers the possibility of an emotional anchor for all of the film’s action

scenes, sadly, the writing, which is simplistic and filled with corny dialogues, doesn’t bring these emotions to the fore (unlike in the case of the recent Bollywood film War, which was also a globe-trotting action-adventure involving military officers and terrorists). Instead, what we get are visuals that seem to have been edited by a restless two-year-old. In addition to the rapid cuts, the editor also makes the visuals blurry, perhaps to resemble the fogginess of memories.

But what this approach does is dilute the intensity of the emotions. As for the action scenes – the film’s very reason for existence – they are a mixed bag. On one hand, we get a thrilling chase on the streets of London – it begins as a chase on foot, turns into a car chase (we even get a tense moment involving kids crossing

the road), and then a parkour-like display in a ghetto and culminates in a cliffhanger. This segment is the film’s highlight. But the rest of the action sequences are pretty standard, with gravity-defying moves, and often lack spatial coherence. The final act is clearly a letdown. Given all the buildup, we expect a strong antagonist who might prove to be more than a match to the protagonists, but what we get is a weak villain, who gets easily outwitted in his own den – Pakistan, where else!

Bala movie Boxoffice collection, Ayushmann Khurrana's bala's reach 69.25 crore

Ayushmann Khurrana seems to be unstoppable as his films which revolve around unconventional topics have been loved by the audience. With his growing popularity, the National Award winner has once again managed to impress the audience with his stellar performance in ‘Bala’. According to the latest report on Boxofficeindia.com, the Amar Kaushik directorial which registered Ayushmann’s biggest opener with Rs

9.50 crore has gone on to rake in a staggering figure of Rs 69.25 crore in its first week. While the film looked adamant to surpass the collections of Ayushmann’s previous release ‘Dream Girl’ of Rs 70.12, the multi-starrer comic caper fell just short of excelling in the domestic circuit. The drastic drop on Wednesday could be termed as the reason for not exceeding the collections of ‘Dream Girl’ but ‘Bala’ picked up well on Thursday especially in North India.

The film which also features Bhumi Pednekar and Yami Gautam in pivotal roles has been garnering good response from the audience as well as the critics. The film which is set in the backdrop of Kanpur revolves around a man suffering from premature balding due to which he suffers from lack of confidence and

societal pressure which has been well showcased by Ayushmann. Meanwhile, the versatile actor is currently shooting for his next ‘Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan’ in Varanasi. He’ll soon be collaborating with his ‘Badhaai Ho’ co-stars Neena Gupta and Gajraj Rao once again in the film which revolves around a conservative family and how they deal with the fact that their son is homosexual. ‘Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan’ will also feature Jeetendra Kumar as Ayushmann’s love interest in the film.
