Nayanthara is an actress who has won the title of Lady Superstar in South India. She made her acting debut in the Malayalam film Sathyan Anthikkad’s Manassinakkare. Prior to Sathyan Anthikkad, Director Vinayan was plan a movie with Nayanthara. Nayanthara was initially cast as the heroine of the movie Oomapenninu Uriyadapayan. Recently, Vinayan had clarified that Nayanthara was not the girl best suited for the role, so the role was given to Kavya Madhavan. Vinayan’s ‘Oomappennin Uriyadapayan’ was the first film starring Jayasurya and Indrajith. Jayasurya and Kavya Madhavan played dumb roles in the movie.

Though Nayanthara was present at the screen test of the film, Vinayan said that the role of Kavya Madhavan would be given to her as she was not familiar with the role, because she was a new face in the Malayalam cinema. The film was a super hit and get more audience positive reviews. Kavya Madhavan won the Asianet Film Award for Best Female Actor for her role in the film. This film marked the debut performances of Jayasurya, Indrajith, and Karthika. The film was produced by P. K. R.
