A Lady Who Gave Up Her Career To Educate Women And Girls In Rural Areas Of Uttar Pradesh

“My aim is to make every woman stand on her feet through education and support weaker sections of the society and bring sustainability,” says Rajni Saini, a young engineer, who gave up her career to educate women and girls from low socio-economic backgrounds in the rural areas of Meerut, Uttar Pradesh.

Rajni lost her father at a very young age. It was difficult for her to cope with this loss, and also survive. But she defied all the obstacles and decided to continue with her studies. As there was no earning member in the family, she started tutoring classes at her home after school to fund her education.

Inspired by her father and to carry his teachings forward, she committed herself to social work after completing her B Tech. She met Mr. Amit Kumar, Founder of Disha Sewa Sansthan who was already involved in educating rural women and joined his organization with an aim to spread literacy and skill training in rural India.

Rajni started training and teaching around 250 girls and women, who come from far-flung areas. She imparts training in retail, banking, stitching, helping these women become self-reliant. Her aim is to make every woman independent through education and support weaker sections of society and bring sustainability.

Rajni Saini said, “Our organization Disha Sewa Sansthan is committed to providing education to women and girls in rural areas. We had done several awareness and training programs to make villagers and people with low incomes understand how important education is for their betterment. Initially, it was very difficult to convince parents to send daughters to our center, but gradually we started getting support from all over. Right now we are focused on digital literacy programs for women. In the near future, we intend to cover a few other areas where we have not reached, we are looking for support and assistance to spread our message..”

She believes that education plays a vital role in the development of any nation. Literacy makes people learn and grow and become better human beings. It helps people to contribute to social changes and make this world a better place to live. Skill development is also equally important as it makes people self-reliant and develops a person professionally which adds value to their future career prospects.

She is on a mission to spread the message of education to people and she urges all the woman to continue their studies with complete determination and will.
