Meet Dr. Issa Fathima Jasmine, She Keep Fresh Food in a Refrigerators for Homeless People!

Issa Fathima Jasmine is an orthodontist from Chennai, who regularly gave away the abundance nourishment in her home to the penniless as she didn’t care for squandering sustenance and acknowledged how even a nibble can support somebody. Before long she started to introduce open iceboxes as a task under her Public Foundation.

Issa is the founder of the Public Foundation, which installed a Community fridge called ‘Ayyamittu Unn’ in Besant Nagar, Chennai, on 20 August 2017. The fridge comprises two compartments – a fridge and a storage rack. While the fridge is for food, the rack is for miscellaneous items such as books, clothes, and shoes that people would like to donate. Anybody in need is free to use the items in the fridge.

The activity began in Chennai and was stretched out to Bengaluru in November 2017.

“Everything started when I would give overabundance sustenance to a woman close to my home as I didn’t care for nourishment going waste. There would be numerous events when I would have overabundance nourishment, and I wouldn’t realize whom to impart it to with the exception of this lady. Sadly, she kicked the bucket, and alongside the obligation of being separated with the individual, I had the issue again of tossing sustenance to trash since it was in a little abundance amount at home. Before long it made me think about my list of things to get if there was where the nourishment can be kept, and somebody in need could use it that day,” reviewed Jasmine according to The Better India.

She continued, “Then the idea of the refrigerator came along, and it was time to work with the corporation or the malls. I was doing rounds across different spaces and talking to various people but without any luck. Most people just couldn’t understand what I was trying to convey through a public refrigerator. They kept asking questions like, “Who will ensure what happens to the food? Will it remain good or go stale? Who will pay for the electricity? What will we benefit from this?”

“Enormous stores had concerns if their business would be influenced by keeping such coolers outside their stores. I didn’t have every one of the appropriate responses, or maybe I was bad at persuading everybody. At that point, I needed to complete a recheck on proceeding to complete things. So as an essential advance, we enlisted the association as it is a gathering and network exertion instead of one individual taking this idea ahead,” she shared.
